Cyclones Take New York, Season 4

1990s inspiration. Spring/Summer 2027 thinking.

Students from ARTGR 4770 and Innovate 1858 will work in interdisciplinary teams to create an original, officially licensed Iowa State product concept inspired by 1990s fashion trends and informed by Spring/Summer 2027 forecasting.

Each team will bring together fashion and merchandising strategy with graphic design to identify a market opportunity, define an intended audience, and develop an Iowa State product concept with retail potential. Teams will present their research and creative direction to University and industry judges through a professional, client-style pitch.

The competition challenges students to look beyond simple nostalgia. Successful concepts will interpret the visual energy and cultural influence of the 1990s for today’s Cyclone consumer while remaining original, commercially relevant, and consistent with Iowa State trademark and brand standards.

Selected concepts are intended to advance into product development with the participating officially licensed vendor and may be offered through participating Iowa State retailers, subject to the official competition rules, University approval, originality review, and production feasibility.
